Sacramento Martial Arts

Angle of No Return - Refers to the position and angle of the upper body and hips while delivering a front kick or forward motion, making it awkward, difficult, and illogical to attempt to return to your starting position. Because of the awkwardness and the time needed to return to your original position, exposure of your vital areas would work in your opponent's favor--not to mention your inability to render an immediate counter.

Forms – Is literally a short story of motion. It consists of basic movements of offense and defense incorporated into a dance-like routine for purposes of exercising, training without a partner, or training at home. It is an index of offensive and defensive maneuvers whereby one can get answers to certain situations. It is a physical expression of form, speed, power, continuity, poise, grace, timing, and knowledge.

SKK NEWS

Happy April everyone!

The children's class is really fun to teach. Travis, Tyler, Alex, James, and Nehemiah are fast becoming young kenpo practitioners. I find it very satisfying to teach to these students. They are very good listeners and they "want" to be in class, that is very refreshing to see that kind of attitude in class. We just picked up a new student and his name is Matthew, please say hi to him.

Our adult class continues to excel on all levels. Bryan and Eugene are hard at working on their form and technique. Gary and Michael are discovering new things the green belt has to offer, and loving them. Johnny has come back after a long hiatus. Ronald continues in his effort to become more relaxed and it is showing, good job Ron.

I know that life hits more than we do (sometimes) and things come up, so if and when time permits, please come by our school and grace us with your presence. We miss you all, and you know who you are…
