APRIL SKK NEWS
Hello all,
Can you say, KABOOM! Wow! Our children’s class has grown now to twenty plus children. Needless to say the children’s class is really taking off. We have seen some rising new stars. We have seen some wonderful, bright, shiny personalities blossom during the past few weeks. It is truly a blessing to be able to teach such wonderful children. J.D. and his buddy Carlos are doing really well especially with helping their instructors and managing the smaller children. Omari is becoming a very solid young man and it is always a thrill to watch him work. Travis is moving along learning Kicking Set 1. Sierra is growing more confident by the class, soon her little sister will be joining us. Alyssa is a little dynamo and always impressing us.
To the parents out there we would like to extend our thanks. Without your help we would not have the children class that we now have. Thank you for working out with them and making sure they are getting their curriculum.
In our adult class, we are still working on the BAM! and WHAP! Of the orange belt techniques. For those of you who have been unable to attend and get the new better upgraded material do not worry. We are always working on our techniques. Of course, everyone will always be working on those forms and sets.
Chris and Robert have come back from a long hiatus. Johnny is currently finished with night school and has also come back. We are happy to introduce Gary into our family of orphaned kenpoists, so if you get a chance go and introduce yourself. Alicia and Rashelle have each earned a stripe for getting their yellow belt techniques.
It has come to our attention that we are not sparring enough, if at all. So in the near future if you have sparring gear do not hesitate to put them into your gear bag. We will start to have sparring sessions in the near future. Can’t wait, should be a blast, to do some sparring. It is really fun and talk about an aerobic workout, Whew! Bring out the oxygen! Hahaha…
Adult students! Especially upper belt, we need your help! On Thursday April 23rd Instructor Tara will be alone in teaching the enormous and always entertaining children class. If you could be so kind and let us (Amy, Tara, and Ron) know if you can come and help teach the children, that would be most appreciated.
For those that are interested, there is a tournament on April 11th, 2009 the Capital City Classic at Inderkum High School 2500 New Market drive, Sacramento, for more information visit http://www.gska.net/.
Several seminars and camps are on the horizon so keep your eyes and ears and most importantly your schedules open for dates and times.
American Kenpo Karate is a hard/soft style of martial arts, created by Ed Parker, designed to promote good self-esteem, confidence, self-reliance, excellent defensive skills and is a lot of fun. If you want to learn the ultimate in self defense, we teach Kenpo Karate in Rancho Cordova at Mather Sports Facility.
